Quality assessment of Zarrinehroud River Using Qual2k Simulation Model
Authors
Abstract:
Background& objectives: Zarrinehrud River is one of the most important permanent and water-rich rivers in West Azerbaijan province located in the catchment area of Lake Urmia. In this study, to evaluate the quality of the Zarrinehrud River, with a length of 57.5 kilometers from the outlet of Noroozlou to the drainage dam to the Lake Urmia, QUAL2K computer simulation model was used. Methods: The selected parameters of the model included: flow, dissolved oxygen (DO) and biochemically required oxygen. The selected time for the simulation was May 2016. Model calibration was performed by determining the oxidation coefficients of carbonaceous materials and the re-aeration coefficient of the river, using the mean square root of error (RMSE) method Results: The results show that the water quality of the river downstream of the Noruzlu regulatory dam has caused significant changes in the quality parameters of the river due to receiving wastewater from slaughterhouses, sugar factories, urban, rural and agricultural drains. Conclusion: Due to the high self-purification capacity of the river, the amount of dissolved oxygen is appropriate and the amount of BOD has reached an acceptable level despite a sudden increase. In terms of matching the observational data with the output diagram of the model, there was a good fit in other parameters except flow rate. In the case of non-compliance of the observed flow data with the simulation diagram, it may be due to unauthorized withdrawals from the river for agricultural purposes.

Determination and Simulation of Water Quality in Karkheh River Using QUAL2K Model
Karkheh river is located in southwestern of Iran. Industrial and agricultural activities around the river contaminate it through its path. Water quality modeling from upstream of Shoosh city to downstream was simulated by QUAL2K model. In this study, we investigated how best to manage the quality of Karkheh river to be done. Nine parameters including BOD, COD, DO, PH, turbidity, nitrate, phosph...

Karun River is the largest and most watery river in Iran. This river is the longest river which located just inside Iran and Ahvaz Metropolis drinking water supplied from Karun River as well (fa.alalam.ir). full textassessment of the efficiency of s.p.g.c refineries using network dea
data envelopment analysis (dea) is a powerful tool for measuring relative efficiency of organizational units referred to as decision making units (dmus). in most cases dmus have network structures with internal linking activities. traditional dea models, however, consider dmus as black boxes with no regard to their linking activities and therefore do not provide decision makers with the reasons...

full textAcceleration-Based Quality Assessment of Railway Tracks using a 2D simulation model and recorded track data
Car body acceleration is an important factor affecting track safety and ride comfort, which are two primary aspects of railway systems. Though track level is an important source of wagon body acceleration, no quantitative relation between them is available and the aim of this paper is to propose a method to address this issue. To do so, car body acceleration is determined using a 10 DOF simulat...
full textRiver Flow Simulation Using SWAT Physically Based Model in Barandouzchay of Urmia Lake River Basin
Nowadays, there are too many models in the world for simulation of hydrological processes, such as the SWAT physically based model. The SWAT model is a continuous and physically based hydrologic model that is the smallest unit in this model is Hydrologic Response Unit, and all hydrological processes are simulated in each of these units. This model can simulate runoff, sedimentation, erosion and...
